Diabetic Instruction & Education for
Tarrant County (DIETC)
We provide innovative and interactive diabetes self-management
training based on individual needs. We offer the
use of the Continuous Glucose Monitoring System-CGMS. This is a new
'high tech' device that takes your blood glucose numerous times over
3 days. This information coupled with your finger stick levels and
HgA1c provides valuable information about your variation
throughout the day.

Coumadin-Anti-Coagulation:
Blood thinners are closing and aggressively monitored to insure your
prescription and dietary considerations are within proper
therapeutic range for your personal medical conditions. We provide
this in collaboration with your personal physician.
PRESCRIPTION REFILLS
Refills for routine medications can only be authorized during
regular clinic hours. When your prescriptions need to be refilled,
simply contact your pharmacy during the hours that the clinic is
open so the pharmacy can get the necessary authorization. Be sure to
plan ahead so you won’t run out of your medication.
TRAVEL MEDICINE
Travel
outside the country is a quite common occurrence with today’s mobile
population due to vacations as well as employment reassignments.
Therefore, we provide consultations for your health concerns for
virtually every location on the globe. Provided are the necessary
and required immunizations and information on your travel
destinations. Your appointment must be scheduled well in advance for
your anticipated departure due to the immunization protocol of
various countries.
INFUSION THERAPY SERVICES
Our Rheumatologists and Neurologist provide an
advanced treatment for their patients. According to the
diagnosis and treatment regime the infusion of Remicade, Rituxin, &
Orencia is given to
patients . These advanced biologic agents
have shown to have substantial
benefits in patients with a number of inflammatory disorders
involving the immune system. Other medications,
Tysabri, Boniva, & Reclast
are infused including those for Multiple Sclerosis and
other treatments.
DEMENTIA SUPPORT SERVICES
A partnership with
the Alzheimer's Association provides a Caseworker to help families
and interested people to learn about dementia, caregiving
strategies, and community resources. Assistance and guidance will
help you with this particular difficult situation. It is a free
program presently. A referral to us from your doctor is required
with whom we will continue communication.
LABORATORY AND X RAY FACILITIES
For your
added convenience, we provide on-site Laboratory and X-Ray
facilities which are available Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00
PM. While many tests may be performed during your visit, others may
need to be scheduled separately. In our fully
nationally certified departments
we also provide bone density scans.
AFTER HOURS MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you
have an emergency medical problem that requires calling us after
hours, our answering service will relay your call to the physician
on duty.
For
potentially life-threatening situations and where delay could cause
harm to the patient, call emergency services by dialing "911" on
your telephone. When help arrives, proceed to one of the following
hospitals that also contracts with your insurance plan: Baylor-All
Saints Episcopal Hospital, Harris Methodist-Fort Worth or HCA Plaza
Medical Center.

that you and your family receive the best possible care when calling
the doctor after hours, please remember. . .

Physicians
are available for emergencies

Do not
call after hours for routine prescription refills or minor illnesses

Sedatives
and narcotics pain relievers will not be filled after hours. Because
of their potential for abuse they can only be filled by your own
physician during regular working hours.

Before
placing your call to the physician on duty have a list of your
medicines and dosages available and inform your physician of any
drug allergies you have.

Take your
temperature if you think you have a fever

Please
have a phone number available of a pharmacy that is open 24 hours

If your
telephone is equipped with call block, please be sure to disengage
it so that the physician can return your call.
